Candidate: Ren Tong

Who are you?

I currently live in Scarborough and am a Toronto based Paralegal and Undergraduate Student. I am a political science student at York University studying Political Science. I am also a graduate of the Law Clerk Program at Centennial College and have worked as a Paralegal for the past three years. I have lived in the City of Toronto for the past 6 years but have also lived in other areas of the surrounding GTA for 6 years before moving to Toronto. I am a problem solver and would like to solve to problems of Torontonians to make Toronto a better place to live.

Why are you running?

I am running for counsel to make the city a better place for the people of Toronto to live in. There are numerous problems within the city of Toronto that need fixing as it relates to Public Transportation, Policing, and Affordable Housing. I would like to fix these problems by ensuring that the subway extension to York is completed within a timely fashion, more police working within problem neighbourhoods, and a return to rent control.

What should a City Councillor be?

A City Councillor should be a person who cares about the community and who is a trustee rather than a delegate. A city councillor should be a person who is accountable to the constituents and who does not afraid to stand up for the issues in which he himself believes in but also the issues to which that concern the constituents to which he represents.

We need new leaders.
