Candidate: Michael Andreae

Who are you?

I am a recent graduate of the University of Toronto with a degree in history and geography. I have been active in politics and business, attending numerous conferences, workshops, campaigns, and spending three weeks in Mexico representing Canada to foreign businesses. In summary I have the practical experience and education to understand what is realistic and will most benefit Toronto.

Why are you running?

I am passionate about the entertainment industry and environmental policy. I fear that as a city Toronto is becoming lazy and expects Michigan to accept all our waste, expects the film industry to always keep coming here, expects traffic congestion to sort itself out, all in all we can do better than the status quo.

What should a City Councillor be?

They should be responsive to the needs of Toronto, but even more importantly they should predict problems and discover opportunities before others do. They must consistently strive to improve the city in every possible way.

Anything else?

I would be running a strongly environmentally focused campaign which
can be summed up as this, I believe plastic grocery bags are better
for the environment than paper. This is because the life cycle energy
required to cut the tree, manufacture the paper, etc... is higher than
the oil used to make the plastic for the bag (do ask me more about
this and other interesting facts). Basically I strongly believe that
technocratic solutions to environmental and other problems can be
found.

We need new leaders.
