Candidate: Matthew Ying

Who are you?

I’m a resident of Riverdale who cares about this great city we live in, Toronto. I’m very active in many volunteer activities for the community, and also for social justice causes. Most recently, I helped to organize a Chinese Head Tax display and discussion at Hart House, University of Toronto.


Why are you running?

I feel there are a lot changes that need to take place in our city politics. One of them is financial accountability, and the other is ethics and integrity to the public. Combating crime, and dealing with homelessness and poverty are big issues I’d like to see addressed.


What should a City Councillor be?

A city councilor should always be responsive to their constituents. If someone has a question, or needs help, the councilor should get back to them promptly with a response. A councilor should also be ethical, honest, and have a desire to create positive change in our society.

We need new leaders.
