Candidate:
Matthew Johnson

Who are you?
My name is Matthew Johnson; I am 26 years old and reside in North York.
My mission is to inform, enlighten and to connect with people from all
walks of life.
Why are you running?
I am running for City Idol because I want to see our communities prosper,
both today and into the future. I aspire to work with different organizations
and individuals in an effort to help the city of Toronto improve and
succeed. Towards this end, I wish for my supporters to be behind me
in this mission. This is the true heart of my initiative and it is something
I celebrate. I can make a difference and have the ability and the resources
to better our communities. These combined factors along with the experience
that I have from being the Director of Operations of a registered Charity
in Toronto have prompted me to run for City Idol.
What should a City Councillor be?
A City Councilor should be someone who aspires to work with different
organizations and individuals within the community. A councilor should
put forth an effort to adhere to the people of the community that he
or she serves. I feel that to empower our friends and colleagues and
fellow citizens with community involvement is a way to help the city
of Toronto expand. A belief in striving for excellence, Integrity and
honesty serves as the basis of being a councilor. Giving back to the
community and listening to the concerns of the Community is the pride
of being a councilor.
Anything else?
A City councilor should focus on what members of the community address.
The creation of projects that stem from listening to the needs of fellow
citizens is the bond that a councilor and citizens have. While budget
and other presiding factors of being a councilor are important being
the voice of the community is the mainframe. Strengthening neighborhoods,
creating jobs and listening to the needs of citizens are the core elemenets
of a councilor's objectives.

We need new leaders.
