Candidate:
Mark Fienberg

Who are you?
I am a Political Science graduate/political junkie. With a keen interest
in Municipal affairs, I was born and raised in this great city and have
seen it change from a stodgy sleepy town mostly of British descent,
to one of the World’s most exciting and multicultural cities.
I was educated in the Toronto Public School System, have owned and operated
a business in the city and have been riding “The Red Rocket”
to work and around the city for nearly five decades.
Why are you running?
I am running because I am disturbed by the antics and sub par performance
of our current Council. Our city needs responsible leaders who can approach
and solve our problems with pragmatic and sensible solutions that will
benefit all of our citizens. This can be done by NOT subscribing to
the same dogma and narrow mindedness that has become the trademark of
the current lot.
What should a City Councillor be?
A City Councillor’s job is to represent all of the constituents
in his/her ward, whether they are tenants, homeowners or business proprietors.
To insure that OUR tax dollars are spent improving and maintaining services,
not on questionable projects that affect only narrow interest groups
or lobbyists. It is a Councillor’s job to address our problems
and find concrete solutions. This council only defers, hides its head
in the sand and blames other levels of Government for our woes. It is
time to accept and renew our civic responsibility and find long lasting
solutions for our waste management, infrastructure, transportation and
financial problems.
Anything else?
I would like to thank the organizers of this project, for providing
a public forum so that concerned citizens will have an opportunity to
express and debate their views.

We need new leaders.
