Who are you?

Kevin Mercer is a vibrant and dedicated resident of Toronto, a business leader, a neighbourhood volunteer, a loving husband, a committed environmentalist, and strong advocate for the present and future of Toronto. Born in Wainwright, Alberta, Kevin Mercer lived widely in Canada and abroad until settling in Toronto, his mother's hometown, in 1998. Kevin Mercer is committed to the diversity and social fabric that makes up being Canadian,and finds it fully reflected in Toronto. A resident of Riverdale, Kevin Mercer contributes to the health and vitality of his neighbourhood.


Why are you running?

City Idol is a fun and interesting way to to contribute to the city where I live, learn and play.


What should a City Councillor be?

A Toronto City Councillor ought to be aware that our city is made up of more than the issues that pertain to a single ward. A Toronto City Councillor reflects the ambitions and hopes, energies and efforts, concerns and cares of the whole city. Leadership stems from each of us who contribute to the achievement of individual issues that make up our city.

Most importantly, Toronto City Council needs to raise the level of decorum and leadership to a level consistent with advancing the City as a whole while sustaining and supporting the security, health, commerce and enjoyment of where we live, learn and work. Finally, a City Councillor must be committed to making Toronto a better place; not only through their commitment, but by inspiring the actions and thoughts of others to rise to the challenges that daily life demands of its citizens to achieve better for the public good, and themselves.

We need new leaders.
