Candidate: Irwin Sampat

Who are you?

Hi, I’m Irwin Sampat. I’ve spent my 29 years of existence entirely within Toronto and the GTA. I was born in the northern part of the city, went to school in the east end, downtown and currently work in midtown.


Why are you running?

I’m running for City Idol because I feel Toronto has lost its luster and I hope this can help restore that. If my sole source of knowledge about Toronto was from the media, it’d be a city where there is never enough money to run itself yearly, different employees paid by the city regularly threaten “job action” and people run around shooting each other. And we have to pay more to live here each year? No wonder the 905 is booming!


What should a City Councillor be?

A city councilor should be someone who can balance the interests of the people as well as have a plan and be committed to help improve the overall quality of life of every citizen within this city. Honesty and accountability are necessarily inherent qualities within a city councilor.


Anything else?

I’m a Sagittarius and was born in the year of the dragon. I enjoy long walks on the beach, beer, thai food, sushi….sorry, couldn’t resist. In all seriousness, Toronto has had a positive influence on who I am. I want to ensure others can say the same about living in this city!
