Candidate: Frances Wdowczyk

Who are you?

My name is Frances Wdowczyk and I am the Executive Director/fundraiser of a National Charity that works with youth around issues of alcohol and drugs. I moved to Toronto 8 years ago and have loved the life I have created in this great city. I am recently married and the stepmother to 2 wonderful children.

I am passionate about making a difference in our city, province and nation. The issues that I am most passionate about are Transit and Traffic, the health, wellness and safety of our youth and aged populations, keeping our waterfront and parks as areas for our residents to enjoy and utilize as extensions of their own homes and implementing the wide variety of solutions that are required to address a homeless problem that has many aspects to it.

Outside of my great job and wonderful family I love to walk, work out, check out the street festivals and city events and entertain friends in our home.

Why are you running?

I believe that every citizen has a responsibility to contribute in a positive way to his or her community. Now is my time to step up and contribute to the city that I call home.

Toronto is a great city. As in any city there are many things that work well and just as many that are not working. I believe that the city council needs to examine the truth about all aspect so of the city and build on the ones that work and honestly review and act on the ones that do not work.

What should a City Councillor be?

A City Councillor is a leader. All good leaders know when to lead and when to follow. They consult their constituency and listen to them. They broker compromise, produce results and do all of this with a commitment to the public good. They have integrity and a passion to make a difference while they represent the city of Toronto.

We need new leaders.
